Question 16x DVDRW taking 50 mins to burn

Hi

I have HL-DT-DVDRRW GSA-H20L writer. It used to copy DVD in 10 mins on 8x blank DVD. Not it is taking up to 50 in NERO, almost 2 hrs in SONIC (but the quality in SONIC is excellent).

Can someone help me why the burner taking such long time all of a sudden.

Thank you very much.

Check your DMA....your drive may have slipped into PIO mode.

HI locoeng,

I checked DMA through NERO DMA manager. Primary is RRW drive but DMA was not enabled, but the slave is enabled which is ROM. IDE primary "DMA if available" but PIO mode is on. For Secondary Ultra DMA mode 2. How do I change them around?..

Thanks for the reply.

Go into device manager, expand the IDE controllers branch and delete/remove/uninstall the main controller entry.

Reboot, Windows will find it all again and it should be running in DMA mode properly.

Try DVD Flick to convert to DVD compliant file and burn to DVD for viewing on standalone unit.
