Default Burning 360 back up problem (I/O)

Can anybody help here. Trying to backup a copy of a 360 game but getting the I/O error. It seems to be reading ok and saving the image to my laptop hdd but the problem is wring it to the disk it starts up for about 30 secs then i get the below error:

I/O Error

Device [0:0:0] Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 115 1.13 (E) (USB)

CDB: AD 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00 0C 00 00

Intepretation: Read Disc Structure - DVD+ R DL BOUNDARY INFORMATION

REASON DEVISE IS NOT CONNECTED.

Meant to say using and external dvd-writer

Sounds complicated but hopefully somebody can help?
