Default .mds file

I've asked this before, searched on my name and the term and can't find the answer. So here goes:

What's the .mds file for, and can I just delete it if I'm just mounting the .iso?

Thanks!

Ah, thanks - then I guess I'll keep as I will be burning the .iso to a dual layer DVD.
