Default Waiting For Buffers To Recover

Last night I burnt a DVD and it seemed to burn OK and when I was watching it, the TV programme had squares in the picture, the sound kept cutting out and coming back and then it froze. I burnt it again and the same thing happened again in the same part of the TV programme. I assumed it was the media. I bought new DVD discs today and I bought Philips DVD+R and Sony DVD+R and I started to burn on the Sony DVD+R and I got a message in the IMGBurn saying "waiting for buffers to recover" when I got to about 30% and then it says "waiting for hard disk activity to reach threshold level..." I tried again and the same happened again. I tried again with the Philips DVD+R and the same happened and again with another attempt. I rebooted encase my PC was acting dumb and a reboot can work wonders sometimes and I thought maybe my PC was acting dumb and played silly fools with IMGBurn. After the reboot the same problem happened again. I'm planning on re-ripping to AVI, re-converting to the DVD files and re-compressing to get the Image file. I also need to know any information that might help me, please. Here is the log. I also put the problem part in bold to make them stick out more but please check the rest of the log encase you notice anything else odd. The W letter at the beginning of the problem bits displayed a black exclaimation mark in a yellow triangle that indicated an error for each. You'll notice I have the exclaimation mark bit in the third bit down but that is no problem as such, I assume my F-Drive as in my external hard drive doesn't support Image files for some crazy reason. The bits in bold are what I wonder about and what interests me. Many thanks.

set your burn speed to 4x and don't multitask, try to get a clean boot or shut down stuff running in the background

usb barely works, it needs your help

those phillips disks are very iffy

I'd slow the USB burns down to 2x even, notwithstanding that BURN Proof should make the burn OK.

Make sure you always verify.

I have an Acer laptop that I use the usb ports and leave the burn rate at maxium and have no poblems. I have 2gig of system memory but I also turn off my popup blockers and norton system works and antivirus. I am using a comstar(USB) that has a 16x pioneer drive and an ADS(USB) that has a samsung 16x with lightscribe.

from his log
Quote:
Average Write Rate: 4,990 KB/s (3.6x) - Maximum Write Rate: 9,369 KB/s (6.8x)
since his combination was having trouble with the burn at max and only reached 7x, the obvious choice was 4x

Quote:
Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x
max doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense

even with top brand internal dvd burners, testers have found their best results to usually be 8X with premium blanks

Many thanks to you all for the help.

As I've mentioned more elsewhere here, sometimes when I want to Back-up a DVD in the DVD Shrink, I get an ISO Image file name error and I have no idea what causes that. I'm only doing the same thing that I always have done and that is also when things back-up fine. I also get an error about DVD Shrink encountered an error. I kept trying the Back-up process over and over again and it finally fixed itself after about 12 attempts without changing any settings. I'm wondering if one of those errors or both of those errors caused the buffers to have to recover. I mostly saw the ISO Image file name error.

Many thanks.

Darren.
