Default How can I isolate parts of an mpeg

I have some stuff I captured off of tv on my harddrive. They are mpeg files.

I also have a file that is an RM file that I want to do the same thing with and only use certain parts of the video.

I want to take certain parts of the recordings out and save them.

Can anyone suggest an easy way to do this?

I have Nero will that work or can you suggest any good , simple free programs which I can accomplish this task?

VideoReDo Plus will do it for your MPEG files.
