@spooks: mkvextractGUI should work; i'm not sure i understand your last post

the only reason you would want the data in another container is if you're after standalone playback

Yeah, VDubMod doesn't support native AVC. In fact there is a lot that it doesn't support, which is why there is a popup when you first run it telling you that its mkv support is out of date. Think it also suggests mkvtoolnix which contains mkvextract.

mkvextract will give you a raw (.264) H.264 stream though. Can't see much point in that other than you could remux to mp4, but then I don't think any of the newer Sigma based players with AVC support are out yet.

You could I guess use AVC2AVI, but then none of the current AVI/MPEG-4 players support AVC so you would have to re-encode anyway. May as well just re-encode directly from the mkv.

run notepad, type in
Quote:
directshowsource("C:\path\video.mkv")
ofcourse adjusting path and filename to match what you have. go file-->save as, and call it "script.avs"

open script.avs with vdub or app of your choice, and encode.

btw you'll need haali media splitter & ffdshow, install if you haven't already done so
