Default 5 channels to 2 channels audio

hi

i have a video file that i've tried to convert the audio in it, with virtualdub, and i recived a massage goe's like that :
"the requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. check that the sampling rate and the channel count of the input match those of the requested format"

i have an audio with sampling rate of 48000 Hz and 5 channel - AC3, how can i convert it into MP3?

thanx ahead

Use Besweet to convert the AC3 file into a format of your choice.

i'm not sure i was fully understood,
let's say i have a file video.avi
the video stream is decoded with divx 5
and the audio stream is decoded with AC3 - or so i think, in virtual dub, at file properties it says 5 channel (stereo)

and all i want to do is to decode the audio stream inside the whole video into MP3,

at besweet i didn't found an option to this.

is there a way of doing it?

thanx ahead

There is the option for that. Simply input the AC3 file into BeSweet and select MP3 as the output format.

To extract the AC3 file from the AVI, do the following:
1. Open AVI file in nandub
2. Set Audio tab to Direct Stream Copy
3. Go to File -> Save WAV... and give a name to the new audio file

Convert the AC3 file accordingly to MP3 using BeSweet.

To mux the new MP3 file into the AVI file, do the following:
1. Open AVI in nandub
2. Set both Video and Audio tabs to Direct Stream Copy
3. Go to Audio tab and open the MP3 file
4. Go to File -> Save as AVI and give a name to the new file

You're welcome.

You can indeed achieve the task using Graphedit (that's what I prefer actually), but BeSweet is definitely easier.
