Question Display format Help needed

I try to convert 2 Xvid files to mpeg 1 to make vcd, but the movie is wide screen ( top and buttom is balck) I use TMPGEnc to convert, and I used 4:3 525 line NTSC, but the converted movie looks square and figures look taller, what did I do wrong? I want to have a converted file with the same kind of pictures display,

there is other options like 16:9, and 2.11:1, but I am not sure If I should use these, because , it is not mentioned that it can be played in NTSC tv.
Your help is appreciated.
