Question Gordian Knot partial encode to test configuration

newbie question that I have not been able to find an answer to.

I am trying Gordian Knot (still unable to get right resolutions/bitrate for quality; but that's another issue LOL). Is there any way to partially encode/transcode a ripped DVD to check it's video quality without having to wait for the entire movie to encode???

Thanks to all who respond; your assistance is greatly appreciated!!!
