Question How to test encode?

I want to test encode using Divx 5.02 codec. How would I do that? I mean, I actually want a small VOB file so I can extract the audio and force it to become AC3, and then encode it inside Gordian Knot, so I can see if anything will go wrong. Can I convert an AVI movie I have into those formats? I only want to encode for 30 minutes of processing time, not movie time, and so it would be very short.

Let me see if I get you right.
-. You want to work on one single VOB file
-. Extract the AC3 audio stream from the said VOB file
-. Input the AC3 file into GK for either direct muxing or conversion to another audio format

Also, what exactly do you mean by "encode it inside Gordian Knot, so I can see if anything will go wrong"? I doubt GK will actively display any errors it encounters while encoding.

It will be FAR easier to obtain a small .VOB by ripping one from a DVD (usually such .VOBs can be found related to trailers and/or "special features")...

Ah-ha, a trailer might work, since they're only about 2 - 5 minutes, right?

To Enchanter:

Well, I meant doing everything inside Gordian Knot and then click encode so it can load up the right software. And I'm going to check to see if it is all correct by watching the short clip in case it messes up the audio.

Do so.
