Default mpeg 2 avi problem

i've tried to convert mpeg2avi in more than one software and every time the converting program stops the convert after about 70 megs . i've tried it with 4 files and the same problem with them all . can someone please help . i just want to convert them to avi.

You said that you have tried it on four different files so it would be very strange if it's something wrong exactly o the same place on every file. But check it anyway. Have you tried to use VD/ND to do the converting? If not try that. Maby you can try to uninstall and install divx codec if you haven't allready done that.
