Question-2 pan stuttering?

Hmm, well I searched both playback and encoding forums for this problem but everyone else seems to veer away to something specific. I have been dabbling in xvid and I have to say it's damn sweet. However, I notice stuttering when the camera pans, but never during intense movement. It's like it's playing catch-up, atleast that's how it looks whereas the cpu load is fine. This only happens with what I encode so it seems less like a playback issue. Am I missing something basic? Here's some specs.

Using WMP 9 for playback, others won't even open the files.
1 pass cbr @ 1300
ultra high
new mod HQ or h.263
xvid fourcc
300 max frame interval
1 min frame interval
all boxes checked except greyscale and interlacing
quant @ 2/16 or 2/31
frame drop 0
reaction delay @ 16 or 8
avg/smooth @ 100

I am damn new to xvid, obviously, but I'd really like to improve my results so any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I apologize in advance if this is due to some stupid setting I overlooked or if this has been resolved somewhere in these forums.

Try disabling GMC. I don't know about the other people here, but when I used GMC it caused a "stutter" in the video.

I would also suggest using 2 pass. There's really no reason to ever do 1 pass except to test sub/audio synching... The quality is superior and the file size is more agreeable. Not to mention it handles bitrate allocation better... Hope this helped

I noticed this stutter on my latest conversion, Jason X but it wasn't just XVid that this was happening on. It was also Divx. When watching it straight from the DVD it also had the stutter so I think on some movies it's just going to happen. But thanks for the tip on disabling GMC. I'll give it a try.
