Question Q: Does GPU matter in DivX encoding?

Hi guys, first post.

I am building a system for a guy who does ZERO gaming/3D, but he does some DivX encoding and DVD creation. So I am thinking rather than go the vidoe card route, I'll just go with an integrated video mobo, and spend the extra funds on the fastest Pentium Northwood possible.
Question is, does the GPU (or lack thereof) have any impact on DivX encoding performance, or is it strictly the CPU doing all the work?

Any consideration I am missing here in leaving out a video card?

a decent board and fast ram + more than 1 fast hdd should also be taken into consideration for this task!
