Default There is no .ifo file after using VobSub, help

Hi,
I am currently converting a dvd to divX and I would like to have permanent subtitles burned into .avi file. I am using VobSub and the problem is that I expect it to create three files (for example vts_01_0.ifo , .idx, and .sub respectivelly), but I only get two (.idx and .sub). According to Gordian Knot, it need the .ifo file to be able to burn subtitles. Can anyone explain what I should and could do? Any help is very appreciated...
Thanx
