Default Menu audio - can it be extremely long?

I'd like to include an hour long audio recording of a lecture along with a film. My original idea was put the lecture in as an alternate audio track. But because my ap doesn't allow a second audio track to go along with the main movie (Sonic DVDIt PE), I am considering this idea:

Adding another menu page, and having that menu's "music" be the hour long audio. Any reason why this would not work? For instance, do many (or any) players automatically shut themselves off if no one has touched the menu for several minutes?

Anyone done this? Typically meni music is only a couple minutes long, so I'm feeling cautious...

DVDIt PE encodes audio into Dolby Digital so I should have enough room for this, I think. Assuming menu "music" also gets encoded, which I think it can be.
