Lightbulb-2 Which is better? TMPGEnc or MegaPEG?

I'm new to all this, and I'm ready to buy an encoder/converter/ripper/clip editor to start turning my AVI's into MPEG2 movies for DVD playability...

Should I buy the TMPGEnc ($48) or the MegaPEG ($139)?
What are the main features and differences between the two?

My end goal is to produce 28 minute TV shows, broadcast quality...

I'd suggest that you first try the fully functional freeware version of TMPGEnc. If you find that it serves your purposes, by all means purchase the commercial version...
