Default movie factory 2?what am i doing wrong?

hello i have a problem that i have been working on for 4 days and now i'm finally asking for help!

these are the basic specs of my cpu:

sound card:delta66
vga card:matrox 450etv
motherboard:1.6ghz intel p4
dvd burner:sony dru 500a

now i dl'd a movie off of the web and it came down in mpeg-1 (2 files about 750mb's each)basically it was for people who want to burn to vcd.but i just got a new dvd burner so i'm done with vcd and i want to burn it to dvd.
so i did the tmpeg thing followed the wizard for making dvd's and ran the prog.i got to files about 1.2gb's each so i joined them also to make one big file that was about 2gb's.
i tried using the crappy software i recieved with the burner but to no prevail.then a friend of mine told me about ulead's movie factory 2 so i got's a pretty basic program very user friendly so i just followed the wizard again.
NOW THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM OCCURS. everytime i try to burn the movie to a dvd the video and audio isn't together like some sort of bad kung-fu flick(out of sync with eachother).i've nevr had a problem like this while burning to cd-r in vcd format so i'm stuck.i've tried diffrent options when encoding the movie with tmpeg got close once but it still look to kung-fu'd out.what am i doing wrong.
note: when i finsh using tmpeg and encoding it the movie was sync nicely only when i try to burn (basically the vob files are the ones out of sync)to get a vob file does this problem occur.i want to know how to get this file to burn right, what do i do?i don't want to fix the vob files i just want it to burn correctly from tmpeg into movie factory 2 help please.

NeroBurnner is a brillent program it allows you to burn DVD's VCD's everything. Realy realy handy it will also do some convertions.
