Default PS3 Moving To Increase Movie Playback Support?

After the 2.00 firmware, it now recognises (but still refuses to play) DivX/XviD files. I wish they would add DivX/XviD support, which might prompt Microsoft to do the same on the Xbox 360, and then everybody is happy.

No BD 1.1 support though, which was somewhat of a disappointment. It's it already mandatory for all Blu-ray players manufactured to be 1.1 compliant, or does that only apply to standalones?

What's the fun of using a console as a media player anyway? Settops are easier to use, I remember trying to play a DVD in my friend's PS2, and having a hard time even navigating the menus.
