Default deinterlacing

after i click save and encode, does it make a difference if i use greedy hma or if i click the field deinterlace spot? Is there any real difference to these two different options, any help would be appreciated. thanks

my experience is: there IS a massive difference!

greedyhma has always worked VERY good for my, whereas the internal routines have failed every now and then.

greedyhma would be my first choice over internal deinterlacing filters. no idea, though, if even better filters exist.

I haven't tried GreedyHMA yet, but have found the Avisynth Decomb filter to work perfectly well (no interlace artifacts remaining).

ok well i tried to change the res to multiples of 16 and i still had the pink lines. I then encoded a movie with the field deinterlace and got no lines. So i think greedy hma is my problem. I dont know why this would happen though. what is avisynth filter and how do u use that. I guess i could be doing greedy hma wrong too. What would u suggest
