Thanks! Will give it a try later.

Has anyone written a guide for it?

No,this is your chance to write one .

Seriously, it should not be that hard if u have any experience with divx4, allthough it does include some interresting MP4 filefomat output options, despite the fact that it's currently impossible to add audio to those.

I've not the time and patience to write one anyway. Have a thesis project to worry about.

By the way, we should probably state that DivX5 is a replacement for DivX4. I installed it and my DivX4 has been replaced with the better-looking DivX5 (WooHoo! Out goes over-simple interface and in comes a more advanced tool!)

Have not yet tried doing any encoding with it yet. Still cracking my head over IVCT method. Should also try to find out if files encoded with this codec can be played using the DivX4 codec.

Yes DivX5 will replace Divx4 when installed, and visa versa. And divx5 pro will replace divx5 standard when installed.
This is actually quite annoying. I am doing side by side comparisons and I have to reinstall the codec every time I switch.

I don't think there will be any problems with movies encoded with divx5 standard (my testing so far show that they are next to identical), movies encodec with the pro version (using B-frames) will mostlikely cause problems, for both divx4.12 and 5.0 standard decoders.

Another thing...the codec also automatically plays 3.11a content (wtf?). I don't remember being asked about it during the installation. Or did it?
