Question Joining AVIs, audio sampling rate problems

Hi there,
Looking for advice.
Have encoded VOBs into divX AVIs using Flask, and am now trying to join them using Virtual Dub. Problem is that Virtual Dub returns an error message "Cannot appen segment: The audio streams have different sampling rates (7000.00000 vs 6999.00000).
All the AVIs were encoded using exactly the same audio settings so I don't understand. Anyway to re-encode the audio or override ?
Thanks !
Shark

No idea here, but anyway, what happens if you choose to override and create the joint file anyway? No harm in that. You're creating a new file after all and the originals will still be with you, unaltered.

I cannot override, Virtual Dub won't let me. It just won't append two AVI segment which are seen as having different audio sampling rate (I don't even know what is the displayed unit of measure) although they were encoded with exactly the same MP3 compression settings in Flask.

Resave EACH segment as follows, using VirtualDub, with "Video" set to "Direct Stream Processing".

Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From under the "Audio" tab, select "Compression", check "Show all formats", choose your desired format and sample rate

Save with a new filename

Let us know of your success ;>}

Question

Im having the same problems, and the sugestion, though it was something i hadn't tried does not work. Power Peck Join or whichever it is does work. However, WMplayer will not play the joined file. But Divx Playa will. Makes little sense.

I was suprised that there were not updated and versions of Peck's prog, but this maybe why.

"the sugestion, though it was something i hadn't tried does not work."

Which suggestion?

If you haven't tried it (whatever you're referring to), how could you know it doesn't work?

I thought I was clear with my use of past tense. "hadn't"

Though I HAD NOT done this prior to your suggestion (implying and now confirming that I have done it now), it does not fix my problem.

I have the idea that divx 5.0 is not the codec of choice and is the source of my troubles. Im a big dope for using this to start with. Im afraid, Im also a dope for using Xmepg, which although it is unbelieveably fast, does not seem to encode the entire movie.

Guess it is back to trying to figure out flask. And using 4.12

Thumbs up

Thanks ! Worked for me, I re-encoded all AVIs and now Virtual Dub accepted to join them all. I am a little bit disappointed with the overall quality of what I get (sound is OK) but picture is jerky when characters are moving. I think I could use some tips about the best compression vs quality choice (I picked bilinear filtering more or less at random).
