Default Problems with Kiss DP1500, Gordion Knot and DIVX High DEf profile

Guys,
i have a simple question but as always it might be more complicated.
i have been encoding some DVD movies using the High Definition profile within Gordian Knot and it plays back fine on my PC through Windows Media Player
i have a Kiss DP 1500 and whilst it plays the majority of files (in fact all of the files i have!) it will not play these recently coded files in the High Definition profile??
is it simply a case that the player does not support this format (if so i can mail Kiss as well) or is there something more rudimentary that i need to consider.
i should say that within Gordian Knot there are a bewildering range of formatting, cropping and resolution options, but i am assuming these would not affect the playback.
incidentally all the player does when you select the file, is pause with a black screen and then goes back to the list of files.
i hope you can help, maybe it is something within Gordian Knot, i will mail them as well, but you have been helpful in the past!
thanks in advance
