Default X-Vid Codec mmmmmmmm

I have just about every X-vis codec to be found..nimmo and all its copied variants, X-vid by Vite, X-vid for win32..plus others.

I am open to suggestions as to which I should keep or delete or why v-dub cannot find them.

The link you put up takes me to what is written to be an unstable verion from Koepi.... do I really need an unstable codec!

Default X-Vid sorted........

Seem to have sorted V-Dub problem......deleted the folder..turned computer off..restarted...placed v-dub in new folder on different drive and its OK...maybe be just kid-ology but whatever... it works now.....just wondered if the various codec installers messed about with the x-vid codecs and confused V-Dub...and me.

Thanks for all replies......

Default X-Vid Virus...

Thanks for that...actually spent a pleaent hour removing the w32 trojan.
It set up a mail server. Easiest way ids simply delete the contents of the services file. If you have XP and it set upo a restore point...it will also be in RECYCLERS..turn off the restore optionsdo a re-boot and turn it on again from scratch.

I can never understand why there are prople who enter into forum like this..get into all the things we do..and enjoy... but they have to pollute it with a virus or re-name files which means lots of wasted download time. ( I had 9 different downloads which all turned out to be Zoolander!)
We should publish their details and shame them !

Default X-Vid.......ugh

Thanks for that info..will check it out after this post.....

Meanwhile.......I have had problems with some files.."properties" siad to be not available...post from here advised using v-dub ac3. & headache.
But using v-dub ac3 to produce a wav/ac3 file when trying to load it into headache..it throws up a warning cannot find ac3 header.
If its saved as a .wav... it then says ut cannot find data chunk !

Have you come across this ? OR...how do you decode X-vids to VCD ?

Default try.........

what are you using to convert your avi to mpeg's......i hope you are using tpmgenc. at www.Tmpgenc.net .this is the best program to convert to mpeg.you can split the file so u can put it on disk.installed the nimo codec pack, but when i did i left huffyuv 2.1.1 and 3ivx 3.5 codecs un check.i also down loaded both xvid codecs from this site from nic's and koepi's.also put them in the same program file(crogram files\xvid...i did get an error but i installed any ways..it work great..then us the tmpgenc program.
this should help..oh yeah us vb to make the sound a wav since tmpgenc does not like uncompressed audio.....well i hope this will help.

oh i forgot sometimes u can us tmpgenc with out uncompressing the auido..i would try a test with out changing the audio first.
