Default xvid cutting

i'm trying to cut down a 703mb xvid file using virtualdub and these are my results:

setting both audio and video to direct stream copy and selecting my start and end points, the outcome gives me a file that is approx. 1gb large.

am i doing something wrong?

That pretty much can't be.

Try checking the 'File Information' given by virtualdub, for both the Original file and the 'cut' file.
