Talking-2 .ani file extension mystery . . .

I'm rebuilding an old authorware project in Flash. The source videos are all on CD, but they are .ani files. NO, not windows animated cursor files. These are digital video files. Changing the file extension to .mov does not work to play them in quicktime. They won't open in Premiere Pro CS4.

Has anyone ever heard of this format? Do you have any idea how I could convert them to a useful format for making Flash FLV videos?

Thanks

Have you tried to open them in Media Player Classic, VLC or Windows Media Player?

Regards

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

Unhappy It does not work in any of those players...

Thanks for the ideas.

I tried WM Player, no dice. I installed VLC Media Player & Media Player Classic. None of those seem to work. I tried leaving the .ANI file extension. I also tried changing it to .MOV .MPG and .WMV and no matter how you slice it, it won't play.

I've searched all over the web & I'm not having much luck.

One idea that I had is that these were captured on a mac under a pre-OSX version of the Mac OS. I know a lot of Mac users who used to make up their own file extensions back then because the OS did not use them. If that's the case, does anyone have any ideas what format a non-quicktime video digitizer for MacOS 8 or 9 would have used?

One clue that I do have is a window printout of a list of these files from the person that digitized them. It's MacOS 8 or 9. In the list, the files say they are Adobe Premiere documents. ?!?!?!?!
