Default DVD to editing software

I'm an editor and mainly work on corporate videos. Often I'm given past projects from clients on DVD. I edit on Adobe Premiere and I use a 3CCD Mini DV camera.

Usually I capture the footage by connecting a DVD player to the Mini DV camera, record onto the Mini DV and then capture from the camera with firewire. Good side is that I retain the footage on Mini DV. Bad side is that its time consuming.

Someone suggested that with DVD Shrink and Super Converter I could capture the video from the DVD at a quality similar to that of the DVD.

Has anyone used DVD Shrink to capture the video from the DVD and been able to then convert the files into AVI or MOV files?

Or if you have a better solution please let me know.

Sadly, for legal reasons, we can not talk about DVD Shrink any more on this forum. Please see rule 19.

However, if your clients' projects are not encrypted (and I'd be pretty sure that they are not), then Windows Explorer is sufficient to get them on the hard drive.

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to for their supply and great service.
