Hi soup, ffdshow is updated quite regularly (almost daily i think), actual updates people download depends on who compiles it, and when.

i like bob0r's builds http://www.x264.nl

Well who knew, thanks for the heads up. I have a question though & this is as a rookie. How the heck do you figure out what to install from all that info? Is it just the installer you worry about?

there are 2 builds, SSE1 & SSE2. check if your CPU supports SSE2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE2). if not, the SSE build.

and click on one of the mirrors

Default I also learnt a little something about my CPU.

Going by your link & the attachment, I am going to go with the SSE2. I not only thank you for the ffdshow info but through your link I read up on my CPU. How often do you check for ffdshow updates?

Last official update was May 05. Couple of multithread related patches since. But nothing in the last week or so from recollection.
