Unhappy Full screen video not working with tv-out

whenever i try to watch a movie file with full screen mode through tv-out, the movie window goes full screen on my monitor, not on the tv. it like comes back to the monitor. this happens with the WMP that came with xp and micro dvd 1.2.
power dvd 4.0 works just fine.

i have also had similar kind of trouble with real player and any window that has moving elements (however not with browsers). what could be wrong? is this a "feature" of xp? some kind of a configuration problem?

equipment:
amd athlon xp1800,
gainward geforce 4 mx440 (i use s-video out),
256MB DDR
win xp
etc.

thanks for the suggestion, but tvtool doesn't support the MX440 cards' integrated NV17 chip.

Sorry about that - I just went to the TVTool homepage and read this disappointing (for you and others with the integrated NV-17):

"Note: The NV17 will not be supported by TVTool because of a complete lack of documentation by the manufacturer."

Just curious - Does the MX440 include desktop software that will allow you to adjust the video-out format in any way?

yes it does. for example picture positioning, color correction and flicker filter, to name but a few. actually i was positively surprised to see so many features with nvidia's software. i have no experience with tv tool though, so i have nothing to compare it to...

but the problem remains...it came to my mind that with win2k i never had this tv-out issue i speak of. it came along with the installation of xp. possibly a codec-related problem? i believe i have all the latest ones installed.

Perhaps you may have to set your tv as the "primary display".
