Default No sound....tried tons of stuff.

I tried GSPOT and said i had 3 codecs that worked. Tried the ffdshow. My DivX converts where playing fine till 2 days ago and they won't play any audio in ATI File player or WMP 8 0r 9. Reinstalled both. Tried AC3 codec. Reinstalled all Gordian Knot system pack and rippacks. Reinstalled Radium codec.Installed media player codecs. Will play fine with DivX Player that comes with the DivX 5 codec. Winamp will also play it fine. Any ideas? I am truly at a dead end on ideas.

1) Load one of the problematic video files into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

I just noticed neither ATI File Player nor WMP will play any sound from video files.

1) Open VirtualDub (you don't even have to load a file into it)

2) From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression"

3) Scroll through the list. What is the highest setting, if any, does it show being available for "MPEG-Layer3" (.MP3) at 48,000Hz?

Well, it's certain that your Radium .MP3 codec continues to be properly installed - and I'm personally stumped...

Perhaps, just as an experiment, install the good ol' reliable Windows Media Player v.6.4 (Desktop>>Start>>Run then type "MPLAYER2.EXE" without the quotation marks).

Glad to hear you've resolved your dilemma ;>}

Just curious - Did you have DirectX 9 (or earlier version) installed before your problems started? Also, have you figured out what might have occurred "two days ago" that caused the problem?

dx8.x was installed. I did install the YouPAX3 drivers for my soundblaster LIVE that mod it to an audigy card. I think, don't quote me on this, it did work after that install/mod. I uninstalled the YouPax3 driver and audigy files and reinstalled the live drivers instead and thats when i got no sound. I am gonna install the YouPAX3 again and see what happens....i want the truth, and i can handle it as well(name the movie I quoted)
