Default Problems with Audio Codec

I have downloaded a divx file, I can see the video without problems, but the sound doesn't work.
I've used BSPlayer but I can't even change the volume of the sound.

I think I have almost all the codecs, but still I can't ear no sound.. Does anyone know what's wrong?

The file information of VirtualDub is:

Video Stream Divx Codec 4.12
---
Audio Stream
Sampling Rate 48k
Channels 2 stereo
Sample Precision 0bit
Compression MPEG Layer-3 Codec (Professional)
Preload Skew 0 Samples (0:00s)
# of frames 0
min/avg/max/tot (no audio frames)

Please help!!!

If Virtual Dub tells us that we don't have any audio frames, I doubt that there is any audio.

Also when I open the movie in Virtual Dub a get this message:

"VBR Audio Stream detected

Virtual dub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during the process for better compatabillity. This may introduce up to 3042117 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate:4616.1+-1498237.5kbps)"

Do u think that is has anything to do with my audio problem??

Thanks

Maybe(?)VDub cannot handle VBR Mp3...open the .avi in NanDub and post the audio information.I still doubt that there is a audiotrack.

At least now we have audio
Try doing a Direct Stream Copy (both Video and Audio in NanDub)and save the .avi under a new name

gs0666 -

I stumbled on this thread looking for the same information. I have the same symptoms, but my audio is reported as follows:

Sampling rate: 48000Hz
Channels: 2 (Stereo)
Sample precision: 0-bit
Compression: Unknown (tag 2000)
Preload skew: 12000 samples (0.25s)
# of frames: 98861
Min/avg/max/total frame size: 12/1001/12000 (96650k)

I tried what you recommended (at least I think I did), setting nandub to Direct Stream Copy, and AVI audio, and then saving the AVI file under another name. Still no audio.

Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

You need the AC3 codec installed in order to be able that AC3 sound stream that you have in the video file.

Enchanter -

Sounds good - thanks for the reply.

Only question is, what is the best codec to download for this.
In searching around, the posts I saw indicated that the Nimo codec pack would work, but had adware/spyware in it.

Do you know of any other codec pacs without spyware that would work.

Again, thanks!

Speaking from experience, neither Nimo nor Tsunami contain any spywares in them. I have heard of rumors that claim that Nimo contains spywares, but that does not seem true to me...
