Question-2 sound pb

hi everybody, first im french, so plz be indulgent with my english.

my problem is: i've encoded a dvd to divx using the SBC technique.
so at the end i've got one file, the the art of war.avi (1.18Go) & the french.ac3 (181mo)
But the problem is: when a want to "split" (sorry i dont know if the term is exact) the avi & the sound with nandub/virtual dub or avi mux, the final file .avi is 1.36Go, but win media player plays it with NO Sound.
it's the same with power dvd 3.
so i've tried to listen to the ac3 to see if its good: with powerdvd it worked fine.

the problem is, that when i split the files avi & ac3 the ac3 that worked before, doesn't work anymore...

i dont know if its a codec problem or whatever else. I've tried it under WIN XP PRO & 98SE.
I have a SB live 5.1

thanx for helping me!

Salut,

Bon courage

Hello,

Yes, it's not possible to mux ac3 and avi in virtualdub. You have to transform your ac3 in wav or mp3 (better). Some softwares can do that for you (see software section in divx-digest.com)

Then, virtualdub will work fine.

Anyway, I'm rather surprised by your avi file size. 1.18 Go ! Didn't you use a too low compression rate during the divX transformation process ?

Good luck
