Default how to use "vidtoasf"

how to use "vidtoasf"
how to use "vidtoasf"
hope to convert my AVI files to ASF file,because it is so big if i keep file in AVI format,i hope convert them to ASF format to reduce the file size.

i have tried but i find it even bigger than in AVI format after use vidtoasf.i type the command line as followed:

vidtoasf -in 1.avi -out 1.asf -seekable on -leadtime 500

i dont know how to use "-video" and "-audio"

could someon tell me how to use the command line to convert,i mean i hope to reduce the AVI file.

The asf format is only rarely used these days. Why not compress the avi to divx/xvid---usually yields great compression and quality and it is much simpler.

i dont know how to convert AVI format to Divx OR Xvid format,could you tell me how to.what ralative tools needed?

and i am confused about know some AVI files are encoded by Divx code.there are from DVD movie.and now how could i convert those AVI files back to Divx or Xvid format.

i need help,pls tell me how.
