Unhappy I have a MPEG-video so not a MPEG-file, what codec do I need?

Hi, I have a MPEG video, so not a ordinary MPEG file. When I play it with mediaplayer, the form of the screen is stretched. Does anyone know what kind of codec I need? THNQ! Note, I have windows XP, On windows ME it roles just fine!
