Default Problem in Virtual Dub (divx)

Never Seen This Problem before:
When I open an avi movie in Virtual I got a message that says:
Error:
Could'nt find "dx50" codec.. bla bla bla bla ....
I have the newest Divx (5.02 and 3.11) and Xvid, Do I need another Codec ?

Thanks.

Default First, Sorry for Crossposter. Second

This article\guide in your attached site didn't work for me (I have all codecs with values).
Any Other Suggestion?

Does divx5.02 show up in the list of video codecs ?
Did you have administrative priviliges when you installed divx5 ? (assuming that you are using win2k/xp)
As a workaround you might install the 3ivx codec, which in my experience, will take over divx5 decoding in virtualdub by default.

I've had this problem before, so lets see if this works for you. I think VirtualDub may be case sensitive with the FourCC Used Code. Try opening the movie with AviC (comes with Xvid, other codec packs, and available at divx-digest.com) and change the FourCC used code from 'dx50' to 'DX50' (capital letters is the key). I hope this works for you. If not also make sure the FourCC description code says 'divx'.

Last resort, maybe recode the file using TMPEGEnc or something similar?
