Are these files from SVCD's?

If so, you need to get a program to rip them. I'm not sure why this is necessary, because simply copying them and renaming to .MPG seems to work, but these files aren't technically valid MPEG files.

The few times I've had to do this I used a program called ISOBuster.

You can download it here:

If the files are from VCDs, you can use TMPGEnc. Go to MPEG Tools, and use the Cut and Merge feature. Load your DAT file there and set the format to normal MPEG-1 (not VCD), then enter a new filename in "save as" and hit "Run." If the DATs you have are parts of the same movie, you can also use this same feature to join them into one MPEG file. Just load them in the order you want them to be joined, give it a new file name and hit "Run."
