Default WMV files to MPEG2

Is there any free software out there to convert my .wmv files so they can be burnt to DVD, so I can play them on my TV DVD player. I think they need to be convertedto MPEG2. I have seen some software but they have the software company name on the video during play back. ie dvdsanta

In hope to make it easy for you, I recommend you to use a encoding tool called Super. You can download it from the link below:

do you know if it allows you to cut out and save parts of the video you want and then burn it, or of a free program that does allow you to do that?
