Question Impossible to burn DVD

Hi everybody!
I'm from Italy, sorry for my english, I hope u understand me.

I have a problem and I can not get out ... although I believe it is Vista ...

Basically, I just bought a SONY VAIO Notebook VGN-NS21S.
Just brought home I formatted and installed all the drivers for a clean system.
Drive is Pioneer dvd-rw dvrtd08

SO vista SP1 with all updates.

Now the problem is that with any burning software (Nero, Ashampoo etc..) I can not burn.

The burning part and hangs approximately 50% after 10-15 and the recorder I eject the DVD and the software tells me write failed.

By VISTA RECORD TOOL WORKS!

Before formatting, and then bundled with the system to work. I tried with an external firewire burner, same problem.
Log in attachment.

Do you have idea?

Thx!
Ciao!

You can try this to remove the Nero stuff
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/U...l-Bundle.shtml

Try removing all burning software and using Imgburn for DVDs and optionally, CDBurnerXP for CDs.

Once you have Nero on, esp. if you use InCD, it can mess things up for burning.

I 2nd that NEVER EVER install InCD ... ruins everything.

But I still have and use my Nero 6.xxx OEM and it works OK!

BTW, your Sony notebook usually is bundled up with CD/DVD Media Creator by Roxio ...

Q1: Is that the software that works!?!?

Q2: What is the file that you are trying to burn? for example .ISO or .MPG, only interested in File type ... DO NOT use the Files Name here (See Forum Rules).

Q3: What speed were you burning at?

Q4: What is your Blank Media Brand? Are you using Sony DVD-R or DVD+R or TDK or Maxell or Verbatim or what?

BTW ... here is some links that Blutach one of the Moderators here has in it's Signature Line ... these GREAT Resources check them out ... might HELP You out! Look under Media and Burning ...

The very strange thing is that with WINDOWS VISTA UTILITY works!
I try with ImgBurn, same problem...

If possible that iTunes create this problem?

Are you saying the Vista utility works now? If it's still there then it may have control of the optical drive. Try setting Imgburn to "Lock Volume exclusive access" in the Write Options and try to burn a disc, If it says another app has control of the drive and it cannot lock it, then that indicates a conflict. If it allows the drive to be locked, then that's not it.

You don't say if Imgburn locked the drive volume or not. That will give a clue. Did you set the option in Write Options to lock the drive?

Try posting the Imgburn log. Maybe someone will notice something.

I never use Nero anymore and I haven't for years because of the problems that I got. That software caused nothing but headaches and destruction. I'd never forget when it cost me a disc full of data and corrupted a load of my CD-RW. Also, when I first got it and when I went to burn for the first time, I got the burning and buffer going to 100% and when it was complete there was nothing on the disc and the same happened to one of my brothers with his copy a year later. I'd rather use Roxio for burning data and I never get problems with that. Also, I remember when a new version of Nero came out a couple of years ago and some people were complaining that it kept crashing on them with an error. Nero's technical support is pointless because people get ignored most of the time.

Hmmmmm about the only feature I really liked with Nero was if I made a VCD compliant mpg file it made it easy to add a menu with image buttons and burn it. But I don't get into VCD anymore.

Hi folks,

On my Desktop with XP SP2 ... I have Nero OEM 6.6.1.4 with Nero Digital 3.1.0.25 and I have to say NeroVision Express it ain't that bad folks. It does pretty good job making DVDs and Editing and so forth!

Now, I have not dare to install this NERO OEM on my laptop with Vista Home Prem., 64-Bit ... most likely will choke (I suppose) ... but why push my luck I have no need for NERO on my laptop ... it has come with "Cyberlick DVD Suite" ... it is OK for my use.

It might be something as simple as not using high-quality blank DVD media. For more information on good blank DVDs, see http://www.digitalFAQ.com/guides/media

I have the same DVD drive, vaio notebook. U have to update your controller ATA/ATAPI in hardware controler center in windows vista. After update, OS will update your mechanic too. Than burning will work.
