Post NERO can not keep a Data CD Open- no multisession

Hello

I am having a horrid time. NERO can never keep my DATA discs open (no multi session). I used NERO Burning ROM and NERO Express both, but the result is the same. I have chosen the option to keep the disc open every time I tried. I am using NERO 6 Ultra Edition. This problem started to happen suddenly. Earlier I have used the same burner to write multi session discs. I tried to change the media too, but that did not help. I use LITEON DVD Burner and I think the firmwire is up to date.

I tried to use CDBurner XP, but it is already having this bug and the developer is yet to find a solution, I asked that in its user forum and got the confirmation.

Please help me.

Thank you.

EDIT:

Sorry, I missed the log, I shall add it ASAP (provided it is there where it is supposed to be)

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

I don't think it would be a firmware issue.

I'll post the log in a while...but in the meantime I opened the disc in another PC having a BENQ COMBO CD523C (CD-DVD combo drive- CD ROM/RW but DVD ROM). In it the same disc can be seen as Open Session by both CDBurner XP and NERO (same version as mine)!!! I even wrote some data to check and the writing completed successfully. Now I am more confused!!!

Ok I found the solution,- accidentally and also after buying a new ASUS Lightscribe DVD RW drive, .

The trouble occurred because of the presence of sptd.sys file which comes with virtual drive emulation software like DAEMON tools. Removing this driver solves the problem.

I didn't see anything in your log except this...

Quote:

...and the Roxio driver, but neither I would think would cause your problems. Glad you got it sorted.

Yes that's a rootkit for sure, damn malware, everytime I boot into safe mode I get an error where it tries to load that same driver.

time for a little regedit

look in device manager for a jmicron controller and the date of the driver

look in bios and see what choices there are for setting the jmicron mode to

I will download the manual later and give it a look, but you need a head start

know thy bios

Thanks

Updated JMicron....
In the BIOS I found three options in JMicron settings: RAID, BASIC and AHCI- and in my case it is set to BASIC.

that usually solves a lot of glitches, I wouldn't blame nero for this as even Imgburn has issues with the jmicron chipsets

Hello chewy

A new problem has come up with my IDE LITE ON burner. It is recognized by windows as a DVD-RAM drive alright, but as I put any kind of disc in (CD/DVD), the explorer simply hangs. That is if I try to open "My Computer" nothing shows up, the MY Computer window hangs. The disc which is in can not be read. As soon as I take the disc out of the LITE ON drive, everything comes back to normal.

Any idea how can this be solved?

try removing the drive from device manager and let windows redetect

and I would use imgburn to remove those pesky sonic/poxio filter drivers

this is why I never let any third party software install a driver that can hose the spti bus

How do you use ImgBurn to "Remove" those drivers?
