Try another brand disc...your burner doesn't seem to like these.

Actually, it look like Nero isn't seeing your drive properly...how is it connected?

Hi Sparta (I like your handle),

1) Try downloading ImgBurn program

http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...mgburn+program

2) Burn your ISO on Ritek media at speed of 4X first ... if A-OK then may be try 8X but NEVER Faster. Well your laptop DVD Burner can't go faster than 8X anyway!

Then post back here with your result!

G!

How old is the drive? It might be time to tie it to the railroad tracks...

Slimline drives are usually subpar to begin with, you might try a nice external burner or internal drive in an external enclosure.

Hi Spartan,

I admire your persistence ...

Your Pioneer Slimline is one heck of hard internal dvd writer to find anything for it ...

If you WANT and are Courages enough you can try the followings ... before returning it to your Reseller ... and Please try in this order ...

BTW ... I am Responsible for anything that Happens to your DVD Burner as the result of the following Recommendations (MY DISCLAIMER) ... God forbid something happen bad so you won't "Hate Me"!

1) Get another Brand of DVD or CD blanks ... try Taiyo Yuden or Verbatims or even Maxells ...

If not fixed then ...

2) Try to find the a Firmware update for your burner ... I could not find one ... but may be read the following POSTS and you might get some ideas ...

If you send it out, does not matter who the manufacturer is, 90% of the time the OS will be reinstalled. When I worked for geeksquad, a lot of the agents would forget to make sure that the customer had a current back up of their current data. Unfortunately I was the agent that got the ear full from the customer. That is one of the reasons why I quit. Also the supervisor had no clue as to how to repair computers. He roasted a laptop, he said that it was getting very hot, so he left it on any way. The laptop fried, he told the customer that it just quit running and he did not know why. The customer signed the paperwork and that ended the liability against bestbuy.

Sparta, leave imgburn on default settings and use Verbatim blanks to burn to. I think you'll find all your troubles will disappear.

^^ Chewy I am not sure how you find out they are 2003/2004 ...

But Ritek I have found them to be pretty "cheapy" and after 7 or 8 years I wonder if the Dye on them has not gone "Bad" also ... that is why Sparta is having so much headache with them!!!
