Default Pioneer DVR frimware upgrade

I have a Pioneer DVR 220 recorder. I wanted to play a DVD+R DL that I had just burned on my computer, but it says "can not play".
My other DVD recorder and players will play it with no problem.
So my question is: Is there a frimware upgrade for my Pioneer DVR 220 that will make it possible to play these DVDs?
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you.
