Default Strange PC Burner Problem

Something really odd's been happening. I bought some Taiyo Yuden discs for the first time this month, and the first several discs burned without any problem. I've just read a thread here where another poster got a bad batch of them, but I'm not sure that's entirely the case for me.
Using Imgburn, I'll get an error message preventing a burn from starting. I'll eject/load the disc again and try again. Same thing happens. Then I..
-Go to device manager and unistall the drive. Reboot to reinstall. Same thing happens
-Next I go to My Computer, and right click the drive's icon. Under the Hardware tab here is what I see. Attachment 1
When I change the item listed 1st to HP DVD Writer (see Attachment 2), and click OK, and leave My Computer open (ie, not closing it), I can then burn a disc and verify without issue.
Closing My Computer, and trying to burn again, results in Imgburn error message. And the 1st item in the drive's properies is highlighted in blue once again.

So, is there a way I can permanently set the burner to stay on the HP DVD Writer driver instead of reverting back to the other?

And here's the Imgburn log, if it's of any help...

Thank you so very much. I removed the Pox from the list, and then burned a freshly created dvd folder. Imgburn burned it without having to go thru the extra hoops, and verified without incident. Your help is much appreciated.
Super Moderators rule!

The mystery is why 'stuff' like this happens, and why did it work before this past week....It's (the filter) been sitting on the pc all this time, why act up now?
