Default DBD RB Pro and HC Bias

As installed the bias is set to 20. Any recommendations to do otherwise?

Best regards

I ran a few encodes with HC when it was still in v16 or 17. They came out very very good at 20.

Regards

I reviewed the HC .pdf file and searched this forum but can't find any specifics about the bias setting. Slide to the left for 100% (?) VBR, slide to the right for 100% (?) CBR? Why wouldn't I set bias to 0 for VBR?

Thanks and best regards

Actually it will always be VBR... this only identifies the characteristics. If you set it too low you are more likely to get blockiness in dark and "fade-in" scenes. If you set it too high, you are more likely to get noise in high motion scenes. The value of 20 will give you the best balance on most sources.

Thanks again for ur rply. Now I understand even more better. I'll leave it at 20.

Made some runs over the weekend (DVDRB Pro w/HC). Performs as advertised. Real and virtual CPU running near or at 100%. encoding time dropped from ~240 min (single instance) to ~190 min. W/ a modest 10% O/C, time dropped to ~170 min. (Mission Impossible III, movie plus extras, no previews ~7.8 Gb).

Thanks again for all ur help!!

Kindest Regards
