Smile HC Encoder version 0.19 is released

Changes from version v0.18:
  • Supports latest DGDecode/DGIndex (fileversion 13)
  • Some tweaks to improve fades and reduce blockyness
  • More RD optimization (only for best profile)
  • Improved autogop function
  • Minor GUI changes
  • As usual some bug fixes

Thanks hank315!

the only reason i use CCE instead of HC (and also speed, but with multiple instances, theyre very close). im gonna try some of the movies where i noticed blockyness with HC 0.18.

thanks Hank315.

It figures! I'm right in the middle of doing a movie. I guess after it's done with 0.18, I'll do it again with 0.19.

"quote in updates"

Supports latest DGDecode/DGIndex (fileversion 13)

Finally, the last version of DGIndex that worked MANUALLY with HC018 was dgmpgd 1.4.5 and we are up to dgmpgd 1.4.8

Thanky you Hank for HC019, I will test it with dgmpgd 1.4.8 (DGIndex) as soon as possible.

This looks like one of his best releases yet. I'm going to try it now.

I found it to be just a little bit slower than version 0.18 but then again it could have been my settings. I did an older movie "The Manchurian Candidate". First time was with 0.18, movie only and the AVAMAT6 matrix. The process took 354 minutes.
The second time was with 0.19, movie only and encoder default. The process took 407 minutes. I'm not complaining. I really like the output. I'll have to try it on a long movie next.

Question

Hi Guys,

I am "Newbie" to DVD Rebuilder 0.98 ... since DVDRB 0.98 uses HC0.18 ...

Q: Can I upgrade my HC within DVDRB to 0.19? And How?

Thanks,
G!

Download the version 0.19 and then rename the file HCenc_019.exe to HCbatch.exe and overwrite the current old file named HCbatch.exe.

You don't need to do even that. I just re-point the path to HCEnc in the setup to the new version (not the GUI).

Question

Hi Cynthia,

THANKS! BTW, Cynthia ... I was not able to use the DVDRB freeware until I read your "GUIDE" ... boy Your "Guides" are the BEST ... you write them in such a way that even a Novice user can follow them and not feel intimated ... THANKS!

Cynthia, I have couple of questions ...

Q1: when I downloaded the latest HCEncode ... it had a folder with various DGdecode.dll's ... what are these different .dll's used for? Do I need to move any of them into the DVD-RB folder?

Q2: one of the posts above by Ed Klein says about using the HC019 with DGMPGDec 1.48? What doe she mean ... becasue I looked in my folder and I did not see any reference to HC in there!!! I did see DGDecode.dll (which corresponds to one of the .dll's in HC019 folder)?

Thanks,
G!
