Default Several Questions

I have searched these forums as well as other forums extensively, and still not have found straight answers regarding re-builder. First of all I am using the Pro Version of Re-builder with Pro encoder 2.0.

First question regards removing audio streams with re-builder. I was backing up my copy of vertical limit and there were 2 audio streams. 1 was Dolby surround and the other was Dolby digital. I unchecked the Dolby surround option within the program before I backed up the movie. When I went to watch the backup of the movie, the movie played back the movie with the audio stream I had unchecked so there was no sound. It must work differently then shrink in the way it blanks the stream rather then removing the stream completely. Is there a way to specify in re-builder as to which audio stream to play by default? I know there is a way to do it in shrink with the re-author mode, I was just wondering if re-builder offers a similar way to do this.

Next question deals with multiple movie titles and re-builder. For example, if a movie has a widescreen and a full screen version is there a way to select only 1 of those within the program? Or would I have to go the Vobblanker route and blank it out with that?

Final question deals with finding out how the final output bitrate was in comparison to the original. I backed up a movie with re-builder, but first opened the movie with shrink to check out how much of a quality loss there was going to be. Shrinks reading yielded no compression. This was before I had made the menus stills and blanked out the extras. So the entire disc had to compression necessary. So I open the DVD in re-builder and finish backing up the files. I then read the log and it showed that it lost bitrate to the original disc. It also showed that the title had a bitrate of around 2 mbps! That seemed like a extremely low number even know the movie had no compression. I don’t know if I am reading it wrong or not. Is it correct that you would find out how much of a quality loss (final bitrate) the DVD will attain after encoding by check the final log in re-builder?

  1. No, there is no default, other than the language defaults in setup/settings.

The stream you double click and place a "red cross" on will not be remuxed back in the final rebuild. It is as simple as that.

  2. To select only WS or FS version, blank the VTS you don't want to keep in either DVD Rebuilder or VobBlanker. If you want support from jdobbs, do it from with DVD Rebuilder. I personally have no isses with VobBlanker.

  3. This should not have happened. Had you blanked the same things you did in DVD Shrink, then DVD Rebuilder would have given you a message that no encoding was necessary and offered you the option of essentially stripping and blanking - a trivial operation (you also have the option to re-encode if you like - eg to insert filters). So, something was not quite right in your input. Remember, your "Prepare" will always give you a High/Low/Average BR.

Regards

If i am not wrong there is an option of swapping the audio streams which means that although the option would still say Stream1 but will play Stream2.

Otherwise yyou have to use PGCedit to play the Stream2 by default.(assuming its the stream1 you are blanking)
