Not sure if you mean me here Chewy or this other link above - but every ISO I've tried of these in Shrink has opened and analyzed fine. Using the preview window in Shrink, they play too. That's part of what is baffling.
May just try a different version/build and see what happens?? Or wipe out MPC and reload...

I'm unaware of anything that could be a conflict at this point. I'm kind of a stickler for a clean system and it is rare that something doesn't work (of my usual computer activities/programs).
Thanks to all of you, I'll mess with it some more when I get a chance.

shrink will open and analyze non-compliant files but MPC won't?

That's a good point Chewy - has anyone used RI4M to rip in "rip movie in iso" and played it successfully in MPC?

experiment, let shink reprocess the iso and create a new one, then we will know?

I used Garfield The Movie as a test disk for this. Older DVD with no special protection schemes.
I used Shrink ONLY for this test. It did the quick analysis and decrypting from the disk, then encoding. I saved as an ISO to hard drive.
Got the same error message each time whether I tried to open via open file, right click on the ISO and "open with" MPC or drag and drop on top of MPC.

This eliminates RI4M as a culprit. Trying a different MPC version or build is maybe what I'll try.

Please download MPC version 6.4.9.0 from our site and give it a try if you haven't done so. It is supposed to accept ISO files without any additional codec. Good luck

                Thanks benbryant -
I'll see if that makes a difference.
This one I'm using is 6.4.9.0 (may be build 611 IIRC but not sure)

If you have WinXP/2K. please download the mpc2kxp6490.zip. This is the Unicode version. If you have Windows 9x/Me, please go for mpc98me6490.zip

I just made an iso of a unprotected DVD I had and can not play it in MPC 6.4.9.0. On a Dell laptop I right click the iso or mds and pick open with MPC and get can not render the file.

I did that also, went to the directory where the iso was along with the Vob files and the iso and mds did not show. I set MPC to show all files, pick the iso or mds and still get can not render file. XP unicode 6.4.9.0 on XP Home Edition

The DVD files(VOBs etc) of the same DVD rip play fine by opening with the VIDEO_TS.ifo file in MPC.
