Do not install any drivers from any CD you have. Get them straight from the web (avoid getting them from the motherboard manufacturer's site).

Do you have a good source for those?

        Nvidia - http://www.nvidia.com
        Realtek - http://www.realtek.com.tw

and so on. I think for SATA/IDE you will have to get them from Asus.

I now have 208 Gb unallocated. Should I create a new partition in that space now, or later with GParted?

Either way, but I would leave it to GParted.

did you turn off the onboard vid in bios?

sp2 should have caught the usb

did you turn off the onboard vid in bios?
forgot that, doing it now. Well, as usual, the manual differs from the BIOS screen. The only thing I can find in the BIOS is "Allocate IRQ to PCI VGA" options yes/no. Is that it?

                That's what I thought too

pull the vid card and start over

you'll need the onboard working when sp2 hits

under advanced there's a primary graphic adapter setting

always know your bios before installing windows

                        Chewy, I found it, I wasn't looking deep enough! The options are;

                        PCI
                        PCIE VGA
                        Integrated VGA

It is set to PCIE VGA.

What should I do at this point? Reinstall with the onboard VGA conencted, then add the card later?

maybe just setting that will fix it but if not, then set to integrated(onboard) and reload windows with pci-e card out

I know, I did page thru the manual a couple of times, but as you can tell, I'm anxious to dance with the penguin!

Will reload later today w/ onboard vid.

that sp1 then sp2 may be our downfall with that northbridge chipset

if I remember correctly I reccomended the nf4 mobo

if you think windows will be hard to load wait till you try the penguin, may be no happy feet

make sure no pci cards are installed and you may want to load the vid drivers before applying sp2???

I read most of the reviews on newegg, no mention of that...

I should probably check the BIOS rev. & update to latest release before another install?
