apparently its true, pipex is offereing it for £22.50 inc vat a month. However the setup costs are large. About £185 (micro filters, adsl modem, activate line) and thats if u set it up urself. if u want a BT engineer to come over it costs even more.

I'll just wait till comptetion increases and prices go down.

Well, just to ruffle a few feathers, NTL seem to have come out with a slightly alternative deal...
Here is the link to the NTL site describing the costs...
            quite simply:
            128Kbps 15 squids/month
            512Kbps 25 squids/month
            1Mbps 50 squids...
50 squids startup for current NTL customers
            & 75 for everyone else.
Unfortunately for me, they don't deliver in my area. the sods.
Considering i'm already paying 15squids/month for a dodgy 56k, the 128 deal is pretty good.
            I'd rather have 512 though...

              hehe

When I went to holiday about 3-4 weeks ago now (gosh, time flies by), There was an advert on TV that NTL are doing a cable modem for £15!!! My mouth was open wide cause I was payin £25! And NTL are not even in my city!

My uncle kinda got worried seeing me with my mouth open wide and drooling at the same time

              hehe

I have adsl - 768k down / 128k up. Costs $49/mo. Not bad but I still think its expensive.

                      I'm sure you don't...
You can sign on as a new subscriber but there are reduced startup fees if you are an existing customer!
                      I'll check...

                      --------

ok, here's what the site says:

*ntl:home services not available in all areas
                      Subject to minimum term contract
                      Payment by direct debit
Subject to subscription to other ntl:home services and installation
So it does sound as though you have to buy into their TV &/or phone deals.
                      bugger.

I desperately need a new ISP. I currently have adsl (I can't upload at all, ul/dl at the same time slows download speeds to modem levels ) Plus, I don't have a "static IP".

Its $45 per month and that is too much.

Batman, what does static IP mean?

also where abouts do u live (don't say Gotham )

A static IP, means that your IP won't change, it is fixed.

I live on high ground, way up in this world (I think I mentioned that): Canada
