    eMusic

I just bought a pack of 50 CD-Rs that came with 100 free MP3 downloads from eMusic. My dad signed up for the trial thing, and it says I have 100 downloads. I downloaded about 20 songs already, but I am very disappointed in their lack of songs.

    Let's take some rock bands.
Green Day - they only have 2 albums, none of the new ones
Linkin Park - not even there
The Offspring - not even there
    Pink Floyd - not there
    AC/DC - not there
They have so-called "tribute bands" for these, but no one likes them.

    Rap:
No Eminem, 50 Cent, others... they have a page for 2Pac but there is only one album that I have never heard of.

Overall: I am very disappointed with their service, no good songs!

Anyone have any suggestions? Or some good songs you found on eMusic?

If your on a free trial maybe there are a lot of songs that are not avalible for the free trial. Maybe you have to pay more for some of the others once you pay for the service.

Yeah me too... they can't be if they don't have the 8 artists I just searched for... I mean, who doesn't have AC/DC?

iTunes I believe IS the largest according to the Guiness Book of World Records, but I also think Napster/Rhapsody are just as big, as there are some songs I found on those but not on iTunes.

I use Wal-Mart for most of mine, because they are only 88 cents a song, no subscriptions, and (the best part, given my age) you can use Wal-Mart giftcards and no need for a credit card.

Rhapsody is free (if you get the Rhapsody 25), it gives you 25 streams a month and burning songs is 99 cents... or you can get the subscription, not sure how much a month, but it has more songs.

Napster Lite is 99 cents a song and free membership, the normal one is like $15 a month and has 79 cent burns.

iTunes is 99 cents a song, I use my iTunes giftcard but you can use credit cards... free account.

A note on Wal-Mart: All the songs are edited. I like that, but many people don't. You can tell by the way I edit stuff that I hate swearing... so naturally I want the clean versions, but many people hate those.

A downside for eMusic for me, no clean versions, all the good rap CDs are Parental Advisory, they don't have the edits.

Really? I found that downloading albums for 10 dollars (I forgot to mention you can do that) is cheaper than buying them.

Say you have one song you like from one album. You don't like the rest of the CD though. I would rather spend 88 cents than 15 dollars buying the CD.

If it is just one or two songs in that case I can see paying a buck a song for that. But when you going to be paying $10.00 or more per CD you may as well buy them in the store. The nice thing is that if you want just one song from like 10 different cd's then it would be worth a buck a son to get just one cd you really like.
