Croped subtiltes

i have some Xvid avi's that i want to place on dvd. i've had no problem coverting them the audio and video sync ok bit the english subtiles (audio is in japanese) are croped on the bottom so you can only see half of them. help me please

Is this how it looks on the original avi or after you converted it?

no they look fine on the pc. even after i convert them

If you are saying that they are only "cut off" when displayed on your television via a standalone DVD player, try:

1) Changing the DVD player's setting from 16:9 to 4:3 or vice-versa

OR

2) If possible, adjusting the Vertical of your television
