    Computer reboots when playing movies

    Hi all,
I need some serious help. i have a Compaq laptop with 1.2 ghz, 256 MB ram and 32 mb video card shared on board ,XP Pro...
I have big trouble to play any movie. It is ussually ok when i just let it play but if i seek in the movie screen will always turn blue ("There has been a problem , bla, bla , bla...") and computer reboots. it is impossible to play any movie (divx, xvid, mpeg...).
Everything else works fine , even some brand new 3D action games. It never crashes or freezes only when i'm watching movies.
I have no clue what's wrong with it. It might be some codec issue ... I have been trying to fix it for a long time. Formatting hard drive and reinstalling XP didn't work.
Is there anyway i can find out why it is doing this and fix it ? (maybe my XP doesn't like the codecs i have installed ?)

Thank you very much for any help.

Try updating DirectX and your video adapter driver. You might want to also use a different decoder for the video files (e.g. FFDShow for DivX and XviD contents).

    Cheers.
